Good Things Happen for a Reason

It is my firm belief that we are supposed to have certain people in our lives. And, that the universe often provides us with opportunities to meet them or puts them in our path more than once, if for some reason, we don’t get to or don’t recognize the opportunity the first time around. (Let me be clear that I’m talking about good people, people who add positively to our lives–I’m not talking about stalkers. LOL)

Four of the best friends I have ever had are people who I for some reason or another, didn’t meet the first time around, but the universe, thankfully gave us another opportunity to meet.
My friend Jane, lived in Kettering, Ohio, at the same time I did when we were little girls. We met years later, in Champaign, Illinois in a play group with our young kids.

My friend Maggie, lived in Mexico City at the same time I did and our husbands worked together.  It never worked out for us to meet, but we did so years later in Champaign.
My friends Gaby and Sherri, lived in Mexico City at the same time I did and Sherri was even part of the same expat women’s group I belonged to.  I met them both for the first time here in Guadalajara, Mexico.
And, my friend Audrey will laugh at this, because she doesn’t believe in God and I’ve never told her this, but the day we met, I prayed that morning for God to help me find a friend with another little girl (I was new to being a stay at home mom and all of my friends worked!).  That day, at music class, our daughter’s became friends and decided on their own that they wanted to get together to play, so Audrey and I introduced ourselves to each other and a friendship was born.

They are 5 of the best friends I have ever had and ever will have and I can’t imagine my life without them. They have opened my heart and my mind, have made me cry countless tears of laughter, have taught me to be a better mom and have helped form the person that I am today. These experiences have taught me to be open to the good things and good experiences that the universe has in store for each of us.  Just open your eyes and your heart–good things are out there, for all of us.
